[ Misapprehension ]

Missapprehension, n. To apprehend incorrectly; misunderstand. An understanding of something that is not correct.
----------
Misunderstanding a person's intention or meaning is a cause of problem. Some people would say that "you only hear what you want to hear"... while this is not always true, sometimes you hear something that you probably didn't want to hear, and that maybe you heard wrong, or misunderstood.
... Perhaps you should find out what the person actually was trying to say... or continue in ignorance.
This misapprehension is different from standard ambigious jokes, such as "A man walks into a bar. Ouch".......
