The troubles are deep in this part of the woods. Fortunately we have plenty of potatoes.

The flame and the candle

The flame and the candle

Watch as the flame burns in the room.

It illuminates, as bright as it can, showing the way to all who look.

Watch as the flame burns in all its glory.

Watch now closely now, you may see it falter.

Watch the flame as there is nothing more to burn,

Oh, the futility, as it holds onto nothing.

See how peaceful it is accepting the candle’s warm embrace.

The flame feels the candle’s caress one last time.

Watch as the flame burns bright,

And there is still a light to see.

Observe the memory of the candle being held tight.

Watch as you see the memory fades

Watch, and you will see nothing.

Realise that when the memory fades,

All goes dark.

Watch and remember.
